There are 100+ of events to go to during the Boston Marathon week, local landmarks to see, and places vying for your attention. I literally have a list of every single marathon popup, shake out run, and satellite event for the 2026 Boston Marathon.

But you aren’t here for that. You’re here for The Good Stuff™. Much of this still holds true from my guide last year, and I’m not expecting you to read that. You can just stick right here.

Speaking of The Good Stuff™ , The Rec Room opens at 10 AM Friday at 334 Newbury Street. Get there early to get first dibs on my hefty Boston Marathon vintage capsule, and brands like: R.A.D., Pruzan, Currently Running, Raide, Alex Zono, and a limited edition (yet-to-be-seen) Swiftwick tee. Meet Substack famous people like me, Lee Glandorf, Katherine Douglas, and Raziq Rauf.

Where To Run

  • Charles River - if you’re feeling social and want to turn your brain off, this is an easy option that makes it near impossible to get lost. Good view of the city, even I don’t get tired of it. Cambridge side running east is the best route because you can see the cityscape.

  • The Back Bay Fens - Close to Fenway-Kenmore area. Flat, and somewhat lush right now.

  • Jamaica Pond - Where Bill Rodgers used to run all the time. Flat and paved.

Where To Eat

  • Timeout Market - Easy last minute option food hall chain that has 18+ restaurants and an enormous space. Something for everyone and no planning required.

  • Trattoria Il Panino - One of the best Italian spots in the North End. Excellent pasta.

  • Life Alive - Healthy fast casual vegetarian spot. Also has vegan options.

Where To Get Coffee

  • Gracenote - The best in Boston. Hands down.

  • Pavement - Accessible on Newbury and good, will be mobbed.

  • George Howell - Great beans, very good coffee.

  • Life Alive - Healthy fast casual vegetarian spot. Also has vegan options.

Un-gatekeeping My Local Picks

Most of the spots above will be mobbed for the Marathon—they’re suggestions that I would give anyone. I don’t want lines at my usual spots. But since you’re part of the in crowd…
