Running Supply Roundup #38
Bandit's Summer collection, some new models from Mount to Coast, Hoka, Kuta Distance L.ab, and SATISFY's Jackson Hole cowboy camp
Quick hits:
Eduardo Herrera ran 12:58 and set a new Mexican record and Beatrice Chebet functionally ran a 3000m women’s world record of 8:11.56 (the world record was set in ‘93 by a suspected doper)
Vintage, signaling in running, and some quick thoughts there: what’s the next status symbol in running?
Got a shout out from
last week – if you are not on his newsletter, subscribe. He’s been coaching, writing about running, and doing the darn thing for years consistently and really well. He wrote a really stirring bit about his mother that struck a chord with me (love you Mom!)
If you missed last week, I wrote about predatory instagram brands, new stuff from Janji et. al, and if people would still buy SATISFY if it were more accessible.
Bandit Plays in Portugal – Summer 2025 Line
Bandit sent a group of (maybe…friends?) to Lisbon, ran around, and generally seemed like they just had fun out there running about. The production was fun, sort of uncut a bit, and gave camp vibes while also showing off a bit of the Summer 2025 line. This time they did a better job tying the place to the story, a serious of snapshots and video pulled together into Pace Mosaic, in a city known for its beautiful tile work. I’m also glad they shared some of the inspo for why: including that they sort of just wanted to go to Lisbon. Excited to see how they tie it all together this time. Last time, while super cool…the Japanese Noguchi meets Space Odyssey bit felt disconnected.

Mount to Coast Tackles Trail
Ultra running shoe brand Mount to Coast has made some inroads into the ultra road scene, and gotten on the feet of serious ultra runners. Their claim to fame is the “ZeroSag” foam which supposedly is good for hundreds of miles at a time (despite being a bit firmer on foot). The race shoe though, is made with their PEBA-hybrid foam. The new T1 trail shoe incorporates a rugged Vibram sole, and their racing centric TUNEDFIT Dual Lacing System. The woven upper is made with aramid fibers for abrasion resistance and breathability. In this case I am not in love with the super bold, The North Face esque branding…but the rest looks sharp.
Me More Cowboy Than You: SATISFY goes West
I wrote up a longer note (below) on SATISFY’s recent camp, so I won’t recap too much here. They sent a couple media folks there who wrote something about it which seems like a very cool experience, the production sounded luxury tier (which I expect from them) and the little details were awesome (chainstitching above).
But I feel like SATISFY could have made a bit more here given they had all their athletes together? I’d have loved to see it through a runner perspective and see some of the fun rather than hear an account of events from reporters (who, no offense, are further on the media than running side of things) or the very product / setting focused shots. I found myself wanting more people and doing things. Maybe it was supposed to be an intimate thing and a little mysterious or maybe there’s more to come.
Kuta Distance L.ab Round 2

Kuta Distance L.ab makes all of their apparel in Stockholm, Sweden, producing things as sustainably as they can, small batches, supporting local makers. The operate on their own timeline, iterating on their products and instead of releasing stuff on a traditional seasonal timeline. These are largely updates to existing products, and they’ve made notes on each of them. Bandit has been doing similar updates during each of their seasonal collections.
I really like the look of the new cargo trail tights they did. If I had a spare $284 floating around I’d give them a spin.
Reshaped construction and functionality. with improved fit, featuring cargo pockets and two small inside pockets on each side for the essentials
designed, produced and tested in Stockholm, Sweden
Other Releases of Note
New Hoka Mafate Speed 4 Lite
Hoka put out some very lifestyle oriented colorways of the Mafate Speed 4 Lite, including this beautiful purple. I have a the Bone SATISFY colorway, but this lilac is calling my name. They built up hype well in the GORP and outdoor space with the SATISFY release, so I expect these to be people.

Mid Crew is the Best Length of Sock
As a barefoot-in-shoes turned never-barefoot-sock lover, I am a sucker for crew length, and for running mid-crew length socks. Bandit makes them, but I found those tend to give me blisters. After all they aren’t really a sock company! Swiftwick is, and these are the my preferred length. The ones I have so far are an excellent technical sock and have worn like iron.
MILER RUNNING Tortoise Shell is Back
These were some of the first shorts I added to Running Supply’s archive. The print was first done for them in 2023, and Ben brought it back in their latest Work Short. Available Thursday, May 29 at 9:00 AM EST, or 24 hours early if you’re on the newsletter.
