We’re back in action after a thrilling 310 mile race through the Atacama Desert in Chile. I helped crew Parley Hannan on TSP ATA Solo, which is a truly insane individual version of the popular relay race, The Speed Project.
An Aside For Trails
The trail space is still growing and these multi-stage races have a unique story telling element to them compared to traditional racing. Les Others just put out a sweet video with TNF and Oakley here called The Sun Will Rise Again highlighting the beauty of ultra trail.
Brands are stepping in to sponsor and outfit teams - the LA to LV version is already pretty commercial. There was a diverse brand presence, with representation from Path Projects, Ciele, Salomon, Hoka, Asics, On, Oakley, Yeti (coolers), Puma, Omius (cooling headband), and Optimistic Runners.

Satisfy trail shoe is coming Summer 2025 for $280
Adidas made a secret track in the desert
The much teased Satisfy Running trail shoe, TheRocker™ (why this naming convention for a near luxury tier brand, who knows) will come out in summer 2025 for $280. Unsurprising price here. It will be interesting to see how it matches up with the likes of NNormal and Norda. Cool to see brands breaking into the footwear space. Satisfy does a good job of balancing vibe and performance, and do their research on the details. I expect it to
District Vision x New Balance are back with another collab. Their last was a pair of murdered out and all white SC Elites. An extremely cool part of this is them bringing in rockstar Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) for the sound design on the marketing video. It’s got me curious about the shoe as much as I am about the potential of an ambient Dev Hynes album.

Adidas EQT put together a secret event in Santa Fe to announce several new silhouettes as well as running apparel. Good to see this more lifestyle sub-brand embrace the current running wave. Adidas partnered with design ubermensch Play Lab Inc to create a beautiful desert track installation. This monument to running while not the fastest track, is beautiful, simple, and natural. Everything that the brand is trying to put forth from the adidas Equipment collective.

Adidas is also doing something exciting in their apparel line. They’ve added RHEON strips around major muscle groups for support. RHEON is an active polymer that intelligently strengthens when subjected to force. It reminds me of the old Nike sprint tights that featured strips of vectran (type of stretchy plastic) for support.
Hermanos Koumouri released their Winter 24 apparel, including a lifestyle line called Off Route. Plenty of running brands have gone this direction, it has better markup and people wear regular clothes more than running. Expect to see more of the new brands do this.
Soar dropped an art print running tee with Amber Vittoria which is cute. They also have a new, ultralight, all-weather jacket called the Nano. Speaking of lifestyle lines, I’d love if Soar came out with some Veilance equivalent, marrying performance and lifestyle, with a lifestyle focus.
