Running Supply Roundup #31
The Speed Project LA -> LV, Bandit's Space Odyssey 2001 commercial, Currently Running launches
After a week away in Los Angeles and running most of the way to Vegas for The Speed Project LA/LV, I’m back sleeping in my own bed rather than a reclined seat in a Ram 4x4. It was great connecting with tons of friends I met last time, internet friends now IRL friends, and getting in some long overdue miles. I crewed Parley Hannan along with her sister, and photographer Chalo (@chalofilms) to be the first TSP Solo finisher at LA/LV. Many thanks to
and Omius for sponsoring Parley and our crew!Quick Hits
I’m working on a Boston Marathon vintage popup where I’ll be selling a collection of vintage Boston Marathon tees, sweatshirts, and jackets from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Stay tuned.
Similarly,
is hosting a popup with Running Wylder and Pruzan April 19th. RSVP here.Currently Running launched their first apparel capsule. If you were part of the Track & Field program, check your email. Nash sent out a very heartfelt note giving some behind the scenes on the launch. I got to see the gear up close and personal at TSP and it feels really, really good. I ordered a jacket and shorts based on the stuff I saw in person.
Hilarious concept singlet from Participation mocking the grindset men’s fitness influencer morning routine that went viral.
New Releases
Bandit references 2001: A Space Odyssey
For the launch of their latest collab capsule with Asics, Bandit created a 2001: A Space Odyssey inspired launch sequence. The release today coincides with the first ever viewing of the film on April 2, 1968.
Bandit has been collaborating with Asics now for several years but is just putting out their first ever shoe collab with the Japanese running brand on the nNovablast 5. The punchy red accents are a direct line to asics Japanese heritage, while the translucent overlays on the upper were meant to reference Noguchi’s iconic transparent shade design. I have no idea how much this ad costed them, but it’s the type of inspiring and super creative work I’ve come to love and expect from Bandit.
The Bandit x Asics Novablast 5 ($150) and apparel capsule (range of $) will be available to their Bandit Members starting Thursday, April 3, 2025, and to the general public on Friday, April 4.

Some more closeups of the shoe to highlight the detailing here.
Puma Because I got Runner’s High
Puma released a commercial featuring Afroman’s “Because I Got High”. As a millennial this song had a chokehold in high school, so they're definitely hitting the right audience. Same pitch we’ve been seeing in the marketing of late, focusing on how running makes you feel rather than the grind of training or the highs and lows of racing (see On’s Soft Wins). I like that Puma’s been getting more involved in running again: sponsoring an elite distance team again, collabing with Saysky, creating innovative new running silhouettes. On the flip side I’ve seen the brand pop in and out of running so many times between Olympic cycles that I’m never sure if they’ll stick with it. The amount of investment into shoe development makes me think this time, yes.
Other Recent Releases
Janji releases an artist collection in paisley Janji is reincorporating artist’s work into their apparel which they did a lot in the early days. It’s a cool way to both support the arts and develop interesting patterns that feel uniquely Janji!
Puma Magmax Nitro released in a new glowing red colorway.
Tracksmith released a fully waterproof running jacket. It’s a three layer design, mesh lined, and has a 360 degree vent to keep you cool as well. My biggest gripe with these waterproof running jackets is that they stick to your skin and wet out, or absolutely cook you on rainy-but-not-cold days. A bit steep at $400, but can play double duty in your wardrobe and would pair just as well with blue jeans as Turnover tights.
Running adjacent: Hiking Patrol released their Spring 25 collection. Translucent parchment colored jackets are so in right now. This ice blue is my favorite though. Literary Sport, Unna, Tiempos, District Vision have all done similar looks.

Saysky x Itahara Design Limited Edition Singlet
Greg Itahara has worked on custom singlets for numerous pros, Hoka, Running Warehouse, Brooks, rabbit, Asics, and Nike. This time he’s worked with Saysky to make 100 black and 100 white singlets, each unique and numbered.Super cool that Saysky is involving someone that’s known amongst the pro racing circuit, but relatively niche outside of that. You can get them now at Sayksy.
Return of the Mayfly
Saw rumors of a Nike Pegasus 41 Mayfly. This appears to be a mockup, but the Nike Mayfly was originally a lightweight race shoe made to last only 100k. The upper was made of a super lightweight Tyvek like material and was discontinued around 2010. This Pegasus 41 should last you a few more miles but features the same iconic style.
Other Upcoming Things of Note
Ante Berlin has an upcoming pop-up with Adidas on April 5-6. Explore our new collection, customise your adizero EVO SL with jwstudios. JW Studios does super slick custom dye jobs on sneakers–excited to see what they do.
The Nike Vaporfly 4 drops in a subdued “White Obsidian Mist” colorway April 4th. These will go with any kit…but maybe a bit boring? I prefer the Proto colorway.
Hoka x Marni collab also releases April 4th. Not a running shoe, but an application of Marni’s oversized puff upper to Hoka’s Bondi sole. I was interviewed in a Business of Fashion article on how Hoka is positioning itself within the fashion industry.
I’m gonna need early access to the vintage tees please
Thanks for posting as always! I’m gonna visit your Boston popup 100%
I’m excited 🔥
