Running Supply Roundup #51
Tariffs suck, new SATISFY FW25, Portal FW25, rumors of a Pynrs collection, preview of UNNA’s collab with HOKA, On’s new Lightspray will be more widely available. Also, another vintage capsule coming!
UTMB is over after a whirlwind week on social media. I’d love to go and be a part of it in the future! Lot’s still upcoming between World Track Championships in Tokyo and the Berlin Marathon.
Quick Hits
Philos running adding white colorways to theri otherwise all black lineup, as well as some new silhouettes. Comes out Sunday September 7th 6PM CET.
On’s Cloudboom Strike LS supershoe will be more widely available today online and in stores. Buy it at online at On, or with the homies Mill City among other places. If not there, check your nearest store.
They’ll also be in Tokyo for Worlds with their Lightspray On Lab from September 13-21 at 6-35-6 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo.
I’ll be at the Tokyo World Track Championships thanks to Brooks Running. Shout out Brooks for that! I’m a huge track nerd, plus it’ll be my first time in Japan.
If you’re looking for help with marketing or copywriting, The Sweat Lookbook’s very own Lee Glandorf is available for hire.
ICYMI - From Last week
Chamonix was red hot with brand activations for UTMB. While HOKA owns the event, the most noticeable splash this year was Nike ACG with a revitalized presence. SATISFY set up their classic base camp, and ASICS trail nearly swept the podium.
Running Supply Roundup #50
UTMB has Chamonix buzzing right now, it’s the Cannes Film Festival of trail. The racing officially starts August 25 and goes until August 31. I can hardly keep up with everything going on there remotely from Boston but here’s my best shot!
Vintage Capsule with Tracksmith for the Marathon Majors
An early announcement for the ‘sletter, but I’ve partnered with Tracksmith to supply a curated vintage collection at each of their marathon popups for the fall Majors: Sydney, Berlin, New York City, and Chicago. We already had great success with the installment over at one of my favorite Third/Fourth Wave Running Store, Up There Athletics.
These types of popups will be announced via their Envoy, which is @tracksmithenvoy.

If you can’t make it to the popups, we might have some left over online for you. In fact, Katie has one tee left on the Running Wylder store. Also, if you’re looking at this and thinking, “hey, we should do this too!” – drop me a line.
Adding Heat to Tracksmith Fall 25
You’ll also see some of my pieces in their fall style guides, which will be available in store. Men’s and women’s fall is available now. Most importantly they’ve restocked the Grayboy tees (at a reasonable $65) and have some new wool blend shorts (54%!) in a very sharp putty color.
Tariffs Affect Everyone (in the US)
If you’re thinking about ordering from Portal’s new FW25 line, the $180 wind jacket has an eye watering $87 markup.
Nobody I know has been a fan of Trump’s tariffs nor the de minimis exemption lift. For the uninitiated, the de minimis tariff exemption means that orders under $800 are exempt from tariffs. With the recent increase in tariffs on just about every country, the de minimis exemption was the only life raft.
I was chatting with Katherine Douglas of Running Wylder and she was exasperated about a $500+ tariff bill on an $800 order when stocking her store. That type of markup makes it impossible for her store to carry smaller brands from outside the US. The tariffs detrimentally affecs most of the independent running shops in the US, effectively preventing them from stocking SATISFY, Unna, Portal, Norda, and more.
I’ve paid thousands of dollars in tariffs over the last few months. On an $886 order from Denmark, I paid $1661 because unfortunately the EU hadn’t renegotiated the tariffs yet. Luckily the retail price is 3x wholesale (as opposed to the standard 2x) so I’ll be able to break even; assuming of course everything sells. A more recent order of $1065 from another Danish brand came with a $221.87 bill due upon delivery. Another from a Swedish brand ~ $3000 euro, $1049 in tariffs. For most goods, my margins range from 40% - 50%, which might sound like a lot but it isn’t - most of what i make goes right back into the store to cover operating costs, employee wages, store events + inventory expenses amongst many other things. Tariffs erode appx. half of this margin, reducing it to 25% or in some cases 0, making it nearly impossible to justify carrying some of these brands as I won’t raise my prices beyond what their listed retail price is online.
- Katie, Thoughts While Running #31
On the brand side, online shops are adding in tariffs at checkout. SATISFY is now adding a duties contribution at checkout for US customers. This represents a part of the cost, not all of the duties. They’re covering the rest (thanks).
For orders placed from the United States of America, the sales tax will be displayed and added at checkout in the states where it is applicable. We apply a fee to cover part the cost of new duties applied on US imports.
So for the PeaceShell™ River Shirt, you’re looking at an additional $65.
SATISFY FW25 is More Cowboy Than Ever
SATISFY shared more of their cowboy cosplay and was met with notably less ridicule than Tracksmith’s foray into trails. Hard to beat Ford “Built Tough” grunge energy coming from the shoot with breathtaking vistas, hearty trails, and vibey B-roll shots of horses and lassos.

The line itself looks very cool. Standouts for me are the Polartec Alpha Direct pieces, the modular windbreaker, and the transparent shell using Pertex Diamond Fuse. I’m a sucker for chartreuse and the lightweight, oversized, and incredibly soft long sleeve Polartec fleece.

Looks like the artist who did their western inspired graphic tees is turning around his own brand next time.
Portal Expands Collection in FW25
Portal added a bunch of new product to their collection. This time I’m not disappointed as my expectations were set correctly. It’s more tuned for hiking than anything but still has some pieces that would be great on the run. The puff jackets with their limited minimal paneling look both structured and light weight. I especially like the look of their technical pants, which have side tab pulls just like my favorite trousers.
Other Upcoming Releases
Unna x HOKA Collab
Dropping 12th of September on unna.com. Based on the terrain featured in the video, it seems likely to be a trail shoe, likely the Mafate 5 or Speedgoat. Excited to see what Unna brings to this collab, I love their lifestyle approach to their apparel. They bring some personality and imperfection to running apparel that I feel is missing in the brand landscape.
Rabbit Fall Lineup and The Chase
Rabbit just launched The Chase for sub elite marathoners chasing their first OTQ in 2028. They join Bandit and Tracksmith among the small brands with athlete support programs.
Rabbit launched their World Major kit series here and have more coming next week. Their new trail shoe the High Country is coming out in a new Seedpearl colorway, along with a full trail line featuring my a new color of my favorite High Country top.
Goldwin Chamonix Collection
Goldwin released a small Chamonix collection with a full set of kit and trail pack developed with their sponsored trail runner Gediminas Grinius. The collection is named “Vertical Trail” and seems to be some of their highest performance (and priced, jackets run €570, and vests €300) gear made with Dyneema.
They also sampled a air insulated midlayer at Chamonix which looks very familiar to some of Nike and Oakley’s old work from 20+ years ago.

Nike’s Trompe L’Oeil “International Running Pack”
The Nike "International Running Pack" is coming Sept 5 with vintage inspired colorways for the Vaporfly, Alphafly, Pegasus, and Vomero. I already covered this almost 10 weeks ago now.
Soar’s Updated Marathon Kits
SOAR just updated their ultralight (44g) Race Vest to version 2.0. Same fabric, slightly lighter weight but a re-engineered fit. The singlet is squarer at the neck, deeper at the back to clear the shoulders, tighter through the waist.
I’m mostly here for the striking photography they did for it. Tim Soar is from the fashion world and it shows.
Minted New York Late Summer Line
I didn’t get this into my last newsletter, but was impressed with what Minted put out this time for a late summer line. Their printed CirrusMesh Mach Tank looks especially cool. They also have a cotton/linen blend tee which I have not seen anyone else do. Not sure how this would actually play out while running since linen tends to get yucky when wet, but natural fibers are hot right now!
