Running Supply Roundup #44
Trail growth and Nike ACG, SATISFY's 10 Year, SOAR meets Altra, MAAP x Hoka, Post PFW launches, new 'sletter formats
A bit late on the week here. The Paris Fashion Week edition took a lot out of me and I’m still recovering from the grind there while catching up on everything happening in the running world.
Quick Hits
Later this week, I’ll be publishing my first “Supply Run” issue interviewing
from . Next week will feature of .Denis Young wrote a follow up about Grand Slam Track and new approaches to monetizing track and field. Where is our Tour de France??
BPN Camo hats are reselling on eBay. Call me a hater, but these shouldn’t be going for $90+. I’m skeptical of BPN as an outsider Hyrox brand that feels like a cash grab.
I love everything Windthrow Store does. They held a 24 hour relay, and as part of the race had local artist Hank Hansen airbrushing any Hokas purchased that day.
Nike’s Return to Trail
Following the viral photos of Caleb Olson’s mesh Nike ACG crop top after his huge WS100 win, more pics have popped up of the top in store at ACG’s first ever sponsored trail race, Ultra Trail Chongli 168, which is China’s largest trail race.
The Swoosh is consolidating their company: Nike ACG will be just as much performance as lifestyle and will take over Nike Trail. The trail space has had a boom in popularity1 alongside running generally, so makes sense for Nike to double down. I have no doubt Nike ACG emerge as a major player so long as they stick to their playbook. Side note: I also have a feeling that Nike Running Division, Nike’s “cool” running line, is on its last legs.
Nike will need to make changes on the footwear side though – the Nike Trail Ultrafly was not a big hit and hasn’t enjoyed the same popularity in the ultra trail community as Norda nor Salomon.

Too Much Cowboy
While the new store and race sponsorship are exciting, I was disappointed in some of the other apparel from Nike ACG. SATISFY doesn’t own the Western aesthetic, but the graphics on the ACG tees feel like a cheap version of something they might make. I think the anime style hiker tee and woodblock print jacket are great pieces though. I wish Nike leaned more into Chinese culture for UT Chongli rather than the tired scorpion of the American Southwest.

10 Years of MothTech
Speaking of SATISFY…0 years is enough to get real moth holes right? 1 SATISFY is celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a limited run of designs from seasons past. The capsule will release July 18th online.

SOAR x Altra Hit The Trail Together
SOAR is known for it’s sleek, ultralight, high performance materials that seem most suited to the track and road. SOAR has been expanding into trail the past few seasons with some trail kit and a recent Norda partnership. This spring they partnered with Altra – a brand known for making super rugged trail shoes. The capsule is relatively limited with co-branded apparel (made by SOAR) and a SOAR colorway of the Altra Mont Blanc Carbon Trail shoe using the brand’s rainbow gradient.
One of the technical highlights of the capsule is a trail version of SOAR’s RHEON™ reinforced half tights. The trail version uses a heavier weight base fabric and double-layer paneling acting as an integrated, zero-bounce storage belt. The RHEON™ paneling supposedly reduces fatigue by providing support when loaded (downstep).
3sixteen Indigo Hues
3sixteen loves bringing their hobbies to work – which now means running in addition to rich indigo dyes. Before talking to Andrew about it, I speculated their new “Gesso” colorway of the Saucony Peregrine was designed to be customized, and they’d probably be doing their own popup. Turned out I was right. They did a natural dyeing activation with a Pennsylvania company Green Matters Natural Dye. The pre-dyed shoes sold out, but the off-white version releases July 17th so you can dye your own. Kudos
!MAAP x HOKA and the Cycling Agenda
The cycling and running worlds are running (and rolling) in parallel.
Premium (and cult) cycling brand MAAP brought their refined design sensibilities to the Hoka Tecton X 2, the brand’s carbon plated trail shoe. The Tecton X 3 is already out, but I suspect the collab started well before it’s release, and MAAP may have preferred the lifestyle-ready silhouette of the X 2. Available now at HOKA and MAAP. For US, HOKA is your best bet as it’s largely sold out at MAAP US.
Upcoming Releases and Happenings
Ciele SS 2025
Ciele released everything at once with little heads up. Their Spring/Summer 2025 collection has 300 items in it – an overwhelming amount of stuff to go through. I think they make decent apparel and good hats, but the sheer amount of product is overwhelming. I think they need to do a better job of differentiating their product lines and collections. What is the FSTTight? How is it different from the CRGTight?
Highlights
Despite my gripes, the FSTTight Shorts come in a nice soft green, are laser cut (like the Janji Trail Tight), have a reinforced waistband, and are designed to be trimmed along special dotted lines (below). Cool idea.
The VNTJacket is a translucent ultralight windbreaker that I wore for most of my miles during The Speed Project. It looks sharp. Not sure it’s worth $180, but it can hang with the best ultralight jackets at a feathery 120g.
Currently Running Mile 2 and Women’s Line
I have it on good (biased) word that the next iteration of Currently Running’s apparel line will be better than the first, with improvements across the board plus a few new products including a crop top and a women’s line. The women’s line has had design help from many of Nash’s friends. Excited to try out any of the new gear—the jacket I wear all the time.
Saysky Fall/Winter 2025
Saysky is adding more patterns and textures to their 2025 lineup with camo and houndstooth fabrics. Looks like we’ll see more reflective patterns from them and some subdued fall colorways. I’m digging the houndstooth—haven’t seen much of that in the run space yet and I like that brands are experimenting with traditional Fall patterns. If you need houndstooth now, you can still get the Puma x Saysky collab pair.

Norda 001a Fall 2026
The Norda 001A is rumored to be coming Fall 2026. The 001A replaces the prior midsole with the more responsive Arnitel (TPEE) that Norda currently uses in their racing shoe the 005. Same Dyneema upper and Litebase + MegaGrip outsole.
Brooks Hyperion 6 Spotted
I periodically check the World Athletics approval list, where the org lists every shoe officially sanctioned for racing. The new Brooks Hyperion seems to use a similar knit sock-like upper, but notably removed the gimmicky looking bubbles, plus some more cushion in the heel and forefoot.
Nike Vomero Plus Has So Much Cushion
The Nike Vomero Plus is coming August 7th, with a full ZoomX midsole similar to the brand’s Pegasus Plus that it revived last year. It’s lighter, springier, and the same type of foam used in many of their racing shoes. Max cushion yet light weight.
Flicks from This Week
Some photos from this week: vintage 80s Runner’s World tee (did not pay extra for the moth holes
), new Swiftwick socks, the 3sixteen Peregrine “Gesso” pre-dye, and a my High School XC recruiting poster from senior year.

Now a $20 bil industry per this report - https://docsend.com/view/jti4mdepccf2andw
Gotta bring stage racing to running!
Fall 2026 for the 001a, that's a long hype cycle!
