Running Supply Roundup #39
Bandit Summer 2025 visits Lisbon, Nike visits the archives, Gnuhr redefines performance textiles, and some other notes
Quick Hits
After a rocky start, Grand Slam Track was able to fill the stands in Philadelphia. Bonus: the racing was a bit faster and pretty exciting!
2028 USA Olympic Marathon Trials Standards – 2:16:00 for men, 2:37:00 for women. Sheesh that’s quick. Notably, only the men’s standard changed.
I got to chop it up with
, who wrote A Note to the Runners. We talked everything from caring (or not) about what you wear to run club, welcoming new runners, and brands doing things right. Listen to the pod.Last week, I published a short piece about how On has eclipsed HOKA (Deckers Brands) as of March 2025. I was quoted in a similar article by Business of Fashion that went a bit deeper.
Speaking of Hoka, I am a ride or die for my Bondis but these new trail loafers are an abomination.
Vintage Trompe-l’oiel from Nike

Nike is doing a series of vintage inspired trompe-l’oeil printed uppers on their modern shoe line—quite a different take from the more traditional throwbacks we’ve seen from Hoka and Brooks. Coming in September, the series will feature a red white and blue ‘72 Montreal Racer (famously worn by Prefontaine) printed Vaporfly and a classic volt green Waffle Racer printed Nike Pegasus 41. The collection will release September 10, 2025.
This is perhaps the most interesting thing I’ve seen them do since the Mayfly upper, but here they took it a step further. Begging Nike to bring back the Jasari colorway!
Bandit Went to Lisbon for the Sunsets
The much anticipated (I feel like I say this every time for them) Summer 2025 Bandit drop came and went this past Friday. Ahead of time the team posted a preview, a list of product changes, and the inspriation behind the collection. I’m a huge fan of sharing the changes and the why behind them, it shows that even when there aren’t obvious outward changes, there’s constantly stuff being worked on.

The collection didn’t feature any inspo from the beautiful tile work in Lisbon, but the terracotta, seafoams, and azure blues certainly feel inspired by the oceanside sunsets and clay tiled roofs. This collection felt much more in line with the marketing and inspiration than the spring line.
The standout item on the men’s side was the Tassarib™ Vituccio Performance Tank, which was modeled after the classic summer ribbed undershirt. This feels pretty American Euro summer in Roma / TikTok influencer coded, which probably is the point. I bet this will be popular amongst a certain crowd given it looks enough (but not quite) like a “wife-respecter”1. Side note, I have no idea who Vetuccio Lentini is nor why he’s getting a product named after him. Good for him though, he’s getting a signature product before Noah Lyles.
Gnuhr is on Warped Tour
Outdoor brand, Gnuhr, has been doing some of the coolest work in the activewear, running, and hiking space. You might know them from their popular (in some niches) bubblegum pink Polartec Alpha hoodie. The brand was founded in 2023 by Nur Abbas, who previously worked with Maison Margiela, Nike, and Louis Vuitton. Gnuhr is a 2 pronged company with both product side and consulting side.
As of a couple weeks ago, they introduced this wicked Warp Knit fabric – one piece, multi-use molle style shorts and now vest. Flexible enough to fit anything, single piece construction, with limited waste and absolutely 0 seams.

Craft Taps Houdini for First Shoe Collab

Craft worked with Houdini for their first ever shoe collab, creating a soft earth toned version of their super shoe, the Kype Pro. Sadly only available in Sweden (for the time being). I’m surprised Craft worked with a seemingly competitor brand; Houdini is also in the outdoor active space making high performance apparel, if perhaps a bit more fashion oriented. Perhaps this collab was meant to introduce Craft to the more gorp-core and fashion focused customer base Houdini has.
The look of the shoe is very understated and feels decidedly more like Houdini. For me, this is far more wearable than the bright red version that originally came out for the NYC Marathon.
Sayksy Dip Dyes their Drip Dye
SAYSKY launched their Drip Dye collection conveniently around Pride Month in the US, which started June 1. This summer line looks bright like a popsicle and is super lightweight.
Soar adds new race tech
Soar added some new singlet graphics as well as a ultra light (46g in medium) racing singlet from the Protolab™ for summer marathons. Super stripped down, the singlet has just a neckline print and single Soar slash down the left side. It’s made of a 3D-textured, ultra-light fabric and uses bonded seams on the 3 panel design.
One Track Mind Launches Local
One Track Mind is a small technical hat shop based in Jakarta. For now they’re only selling at running/cycling hybrid store Machina Libera. The hats are ultralight weight made of a material not so different from the Saysky shirt above.
I called this out because I love seeing new brands pop up, especially ones with local roots that aren’t available worldwide. Somehow it feels pure because it’s for that community–without being exclusive.
Tested in the sweltering humidity of Bali, it proved itself during a grueling 162km relay run

The Professionalization Problem
Escape Collective recently interviewed Peter Stetina, a world tour road cyclist turned gravel cyclist on the future of the sport. Stetina touched on how gravel riding has become overly professionalized. While I’m more of a casual observer and participant, it seems that trail, and ultra trail, has had that same trajectory. What started as adventure racing is slowly morphing into significant financial investment, and calculated prep – shoe changes, bicarb, carbs per hour. I suppose that’s something that happens as any niche sport gains popularity, but it was interesting to see the similarities.
That’s all for this time, folks. If you missed last week’s, there it is.
If you didn’t, but maybe a friend did, consider sending this along.

My eyes rolled so far back into my head when I read this product description.
What a joy to chop it up.
So cool you got quoted by Business of Fashion!!!
